Snap any receipt. AI extracts it in two seconds and maps it to the right Schedule C line. Self-employed users find $1,200+ in extra deductions every year.

This Privacy Policy explains how Stub ("we," "us," "the app") handles your information. The short version: most of your data stays on your device, we don't sell anything to anyone, and we only collect what we need to make the app work.
If you have any question that isn't answered here, email service@evdiag.net.
Stub is a receipt-scanning and tax-tracking app for self-employed people. You point your camera at a receipt, the app uses AI to read it, and it stores the extracted data so you can use it for tax deductions.
The following is stored on your device and is never sent to us:
Backup & sync — your own cloud, not ours. So your records survive a lost, reset, or new phone, Stub also backs this data up (records, receipt photos, and trip routes) to storage that belongs to you: on iOS, your iCloud's private database, used automatically while your phone is signed into iCloud; on Android, a hidden app-data area of your own Google Drive, used only after you tap "Back up to Google Drive" and grant access. Apple or Google hold that copy as your storage provider under their own privacy policies — we never receive it, we cannot access it, and we run no server that stores your data. To keep everything device-only, stay signed out of iCloud (iOS) or simply never connect Google Drive (Android).
Deleting your data. "Delete all data" in Settings removes everything from your phone and, when backup & sync is on, deletes the synced records from your iCloud or Google Drive backup and from your other synced devices on their next sync. Uninstalling the app alone does not delete the cloud backup — reinstalling restores from it, which is exactly what the backup is for. A small amount of leftover file data from previously deleted items can remain in your own cloud storage; it is not visible in the app and stays in storage only you control.
When you scan a receipt, Stub sends the receipt image to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to extract the vendor, amount, items, and tax category. The image is processed and a structured response is returned. Anthropic does not retain your receipt images for training purposes. You can read Anthropic's policy at anthropic.com/privacy.
We do not store the receipt image on our servers. The image leaves your device, is processed by the AI, the structured result returns to your device, and that's the end of it.
If you save a receipt in a foreign currency, Stub also fetches that day's exchange rate from Frankfurter (frankfurter.dev), an open exchange-rate service based on European Central Bank reference rates, to show an informational USD estimate. That request contains only the currency, the receipt's date, and the amount — never the vendor, the items, or anything that identifies you.
Stub can track your drives for mileage deductions. This is optional and off by default: you turn it on from the Miles tab, and you can turn it off at any time.
When automatic drive detection is on, Stub collects your device's precise location in the background, including when the app is closed or not in use, to detect and record your drives. Your full route history is stored on your device and, when backup & sync is on, in your own iCloud or Google Drive backup (see section 2) — never on our servers.
To suggest whether each detected trip was business or personal, Stub sends a small summary of the trip to the same third-party AI provider (Anthropic): the trip's start and end coordinates, date and time of day, distance, duration, and driving pattern. If you've named a saved place (like Home or Office), that name is included too so the suggestion is sharper. To show readable place names for stops you haven't named, Stub also sends trip endpoint coordinates to Google Maps Platform (Google LLC), which returns the nearby street address or business name; these lookups stop entirely in Private location mode. You can turn on Private location mode (Settings › Privacy) to send only approximate locations and no place names — more private, but the suggestions become less accurate. The AI returns a suggestion, and you confirm every trip yourself. We do not store your location on our servers, and your location is never sold or used for advertising.
The manual GPS trip recorder works the same way: the recorded route is stored on your device.
When you start a Stub Pro subscription, payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We never see your credit card number or full billing details.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription states. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
Stub has no accounts. To remember your subscription (and any referral rewards) across reinstalls, the app generates a random identifier on your device. It contains no personal information and cannot identify you on its own. It's stored on your device, with a secure backup in iOS Keychain or Android Block Store so it survives reinstalling the app, and it is shared with RevenueCat to look up your subscription state.
If you use the referral program (viewing your referral code, sharing it, or redeeming one), we store a small record on our servers (hosted on Cloudflare) so rewards can be granted and abuse prevented: the random identifier described above, your platform (iOS or Android), the referral code, which identifier referred which, the reward days earned and their status, and timestamps. This record contains no name, email, location, receipts, or trips. If you never use the referral feature, no such record is created. You can request deletion of this record at any time (see "Your rights").
For clarity, we do not collect any of the following:
You have the right to access, delete, export, or object to processing of your data. To exercise any of these rights, email service@evdiag.net with the subject line "Privacy Request."
Stub is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If you are located outside the United States, your data (such as receipt images and trip summaries sent for AI processing) may be transferred to and processed in the United States. By using Stub, you consent to this transfer.
If we change this policy, we'll update the "Effective date" above. If the change is material, we'll notify you in-app before the change takes effect.
Stub is built and operated by Roman Franta.
