Terms of Use

Last updated: June 10, 2026

Welcome to Stub. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Stub mobile application and related services ("Stub", "we", "us"). By downloading or using Stub, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. What Stub is

Stub is a receipt-scanning and expense-tracking tool for self-employed people. It uses artificial intelligence to extract information from receipts and suggest expense categories and U.S. IRS Schedule C tax lines. Stub is a record-keeping aid only.

2. Not tax, legal, or financial advice

Stub does not provide tax, legal, accounting, or financial advice. The AI's category suggestions, Schedule C mappings, deductibility determinations, and confidence scores are automated starting points, not professional advice, and may be incorrect. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your tax records and filings. Always verify significant decisions with a qualified tax professional or at irs.gov. We are not liable for any tax outcome, penalty, or loss arising from your use of the app.

3. AI processing

When you scan a receipt, its image is sent securely to a third-party AI provider for data extraction and then discarded; it is not retained as part of a profile about you and is not used to train models. You are responsible for the content of the receipts you choose to scan.

4. Subscriptions and billing

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the app, attempt to reverse-engineer it, use it for unlawful purposes, or upload content you do not have the right to use. The app is for your own business record-keeping.

6. Your data

Your receipts and extracted data are stored locally on your device. Our handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Stub is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that AI extraction will be accurate or error-free. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

8. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
